DHA is an omega-3 fatty acid – an essential fatty acid that is not synthesized in the body but is ingested through food. It is an important structural component of the brain, nerve cells and retina of the eye: 97% of all omega-3 fatty acids in the brain are DHA, while in the retina it accounts for 93% of total omega-3 fatty acids. As much as 60% of the structure of the brain is fat, and 25% of these fats is DHA. As an extremely important structural component, DHA accounts for 30% of the structural fats in the gray matter of the brain.

The most intense growth of the baby's brain occurs in the last trimester of pregnancy and in the first year of life. In the first two years of life, DHA is essential for critical binding components in the brain. DHA Omega-3 fatty acids are essential for the development of baby's vision and brain. The overall development of the brain affects the development of all mental and cognitive functions. Numerous scientific studies have shown that DHA affects:

- brain development

- development of baby's vision

DHA omega – 3 fatty acids in the product are obtained from a natural source, marine microalgae – one of the richest sources of DHA fatty acid, of high quality.

Microalgae were grown in strictly controlled conditions, so that contaminants were minimized. Microalgae oil is a safe source of DHA that is also used in newborns, as confirmed by the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA).

Data obtained from observational studies have revealed that consumption of omega-3 fatty acids during pregnancy, either in the diet or through supplements, is associated with improved neurodevelopmental outcomes in the child.

Moreover, the consumption of oils rich in n-3 during pregnancy reduces the risk of early preterm birth. Pregnant and lactating women should aim to achieve an average daily intake of at least 200 mg of DHA.

Fish oil supplements, which contain both EPA and DHA, and DHA-only oils obtained from algae are good means of supplementing the diet of pregnant women that are safe, especially in terms of mercury deficiency.

The results of mental processing of children at the age of 4 significantly correlated with the mother's intake of DHA and eicosapentaenoic acid during pregnancy. In the multiple regression model, the mother's intake of DHA during pregnancy was the only statistically significant variable for the mental processing results of the children at the age of 4 years.
