It is intended for pregnant and breastfeeding women, and its use is recommended during the entire pregnancy and breastfeeding period.

QUATREFOLIC® (active  folate)

What is folate?

Folate and folic acid are essentially the same things. The difference is that folate is a salt of folic acid and it is the form in which it is naturally found in food. Folic acid is a chemical, synthetic form. Folate belongs to the group of B vitamins and it has an extremely important role in the body, especially during pregnancy.

Folic acid sources

Folic acid in the form of folate is naturally found in foods such as fruits and green vegetables (e.g. kale, broccoli, spinach), but can be easily destroyed by cooking or other thermal processing. It is additionally found in foods in very small quantities, so it is necessary to compensate through supplements, especially during pregnancy.

Intake in the form of folate (identical form as in food) is much better than the intake of chemically synthesized folic acid for several reasons. The most important thing is that in that way much better absorption and utilization are achieved.

The role of folic acid in pregnancy

Folic acid plays an extremely important role during pregnancy in the metabolic functions in the cell:

– Synthesis of genetic material (RNA and DNA), as well as “repairs” of DNA processes related to genetic material, is central in maintaining the integrity of genetic material (genome) and cells in the body.

 – Participates in many vital biological processes

Folic acid is especially important during the period of rapid cell division and growth, such as the period of pregnancy when the fetus grows.

Folic acid deficiency in pregnancy

Folic acid deficiency in pregnancy is a risk factor for the development of a wide range of diseases such as anemia, depression, pregnancy complications and neural tube defects in the fetus.

Folate deficiency affects the production of homocysteine, which can disrupt the synthesis of genetic material (DNA) and the proper development of the fetus. This can lead to complications in pregnancy, such as neural tube defects. Therefore, supplementation throughout pregnancy is necessary for healthy fetal development and healthy pregnancy.

The importance of proper folate intake during pregnancy is one of the most important nutritional discoveries!

Recommended folic acid intake during pregnancy:

The European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) recommends taking 600 µg of folic acid per day. It is recommended to use 600 µg daily for 12 weeks before planning a pregnancy, throughout pregnancy and during breastfeeding.

What is Quatrefolic®

Quatrefolic® is a natural, active form of folic acid, in the form of a natural glucosamine salt, which is naturally found in our body. The synthetic form, folic acid, is less absorbed and used in the body, and some women cannot use it at all!

It has been confirmed that in 30-50% of women (depending on the country) there is no activation and utilization of folic acid in the body because they do not have the enzyme that activates it. This ingested folic acid remains circulating freely in the blood, potentially causing side effects for both mom and baby.

  • Quatrefolic® ACTIVE form

enzyme or additional activation are not required, it is utilized immediately! It is a natural form of folic acid salt soluble in water – that is why it is absorbed very quickly and has an extremely high utilization in the body!

  • B12 – active forms

Two forms of vitamin B12 – methylcobalamin and adenosylcobalamin. The body uses them immediately without any harmful release of molecules.

  • Everything that is necessary

12 vitamins and 7 minerals meet all the increased needs during pregnancy and breastfeeding!

  • Contains Choline

Extremely important for the normal development of the fetal central nervous system, for the development of memory and intellectual abilities.

  • For pregnant and lactating women

It is recommended for use during pregnancy and lactation, in order to ensure healthy growth and development of the fetus and newborn.

  • Recommended daily dose

Everything you need in 1 capsule a day!

Vitamin B12

Vitamin B12 plays an extremely important role in the normal function of the brain and nervous system. It is involved in the formation of red blood cells – they cannot be properly formed and multiplied without vitamin B12.

It is extremely important for the creation of genetic material and the regulation of DNA.

It has a role in fatty acid synthesis and energy metabolism, and the metabolism of every cell in the body depends on vitamin B12.

Vitamin B12 allows the release of energy and helps the absorption of folic acid. Folic acid does not go without vitamin B12, they are closely related!

Active forms of vitamin B12 – FORM IS IMPORTANT!

The most common form of vitamin B12 in vitamin products is cyanocobalamin. It is an inactive form of vitamin B12. In order to be used, it must first be activated in the body. Upon activation, cyanide molecules are released, which is harmful.

Pregnatol Multi + Active Folate contains two forms of vitamin B12 – methylcobalamin and adenosylcobalamin. These are active forms and that is why the organism uses them immediately without any harmful release of molecules.

Due to its extremely important role, vitamin B12 supplementation is recommended during pregnancy, together with folic acid. They are best used together if they are already in active forms!

Choline

Choline is one of the essential nutrients. Its main role is participation in fat metabolism and transport, in methylation processes and in the synthesis of the neurotransmitter acetylcholine. It is extremely important for the normal development of the fetal central nervous system, for the development of memory and intellectual abilities.

Magnesium

Magnesium is an essential nutrient and belongs to the macronutrients. It is necessary for the functioning of over 300 enzymes involved in the catabolism of carbohydrates and proteins, fatty acid synthesis, mRNA activity. It is also important for reducing fatigue and exhaustion, as well as the normal functioning of muscles and the nervous system.

Vitamin C

Vitamin C (L-Ascorbic Acid) is the most important water-soluble vitamin, antioxidant and powerful reducing agent that protects cells from oxidative damage. It is also necessary for the normal function of the gums, teeth, cartilage, bones, skin and blood vessels. Vitamin C increases the absorption of iron in the body and reduces fatigue and exhaustion.

Iron

Iron is an essential element for the process of respiration and oxygen transfer in the body. It is extremely important for the processes of cell division and DNA synthesis, as well as for the normal formation of red blood cells and hemoglobin.

Vitamin D

Vitamin D belongs to the group of liposoluble vitamins. It helps the body to absorb and use calcium and phosphorus, which is important for normal bone mineralization, but also for serum calcium homeostasis and prevention of hypocalcemic tetany (muscle spasms). Vitamin D is also necessary for the process of cell division.

Iodine

Iodine is an essential nutrient necessary for the functioning of the thyroid gland and the synthesis of thyroid hormones. As it plays an extremely important role during pregnancy and breastfeeding, the need for iodine is significantly increased during this period.

Zinc

Contributes to normal protein synthesis, DNA and normal fertility and reproduction.

Chrome

Chromium contributes to the normal metabolism of macronutrients and the maintenance of blood glucose levels.
